Archies Bunker Backpackers is adjacent to Marine Parade which runs the length of Napier town along the picturesque coast.
Just at the end of the road are some of the best eateries in the area; Lonestar and Hoggs Breath for all your American influenced dining as well as GMK for your Italian option, Med for Mediterranean and lots more. There's restaurants for all tastes in the area.
Napier Prison currently gives the option of guided tours or audio tours at your own speed.
And of course, one of the things that Napier and Hawkes Bay are known for: the wine tours. They can pick up and drop off from the hostel. There are many tours on offer to a selection of even more wineries so there's usually always a company that you can travel out with. A favourite of ours being Baytours and charters.
A couple of our favourites are Bay Tours and Grape Escape. There is also the Wine Centre, literally just around the corner, which is recommended for anyone
who has a taste for wine and doesn't want to walk too far to find it!
There's the gannet tours out at Cape Kidnappers (go by tractor, it's well worth the trip alone). You'll have to get out to the start of the gannet trip but it's well worth it for an informative but, more importantly, fun day! This is a seasonal tour dependent on the Gannets themselves. Tours normally depart between October and April.
Rafting the Mohaka river is always fun as well. You can visit Mountain Valley Adventure Lodge for any rafting, horse trekking, paintball, mountain biking, archery, clay bird or fishing needs.
And if you need more, the i-Site is about a 60 second walk from our doors (also the Naked bus stop) and right next door to that, the sport of kings, mini golf!
If you're looking for a little exercise and want to shoot your fellow man with lasers then Napier has a "Laser Force" 15 minutes walk away.
And if you have a car there's another couple of fun places to visit:
Arataki Honey factory with more information at www.aratakihoneyhb.co.nz
Te Mata Peak; the tallest mountain in the area with amazing views on a clear day.
Silky Oak chocolate factory and museum (try the hot chocolate extreme with chilli). More information at www.silkyoakchocs.co.nz/
Plus, by car or by bus you have Hastings city a short distance away.
